I did a little bit of closet cleaning in my studio this week and pulled out the work in progress lunar quilt I started long ago but never finished. Fitting for this eclipse week, I thought! The idea of stitching the 27 more needed to make the quilt I was thinking about originally, was absolutely not enticing me. And the more I thought about it, I realized it would be far too busy of a quilt for my bedroom anyway. I was absolutely ready to have it off the work in progress shelf though. The obvious answer was pillows! Some simple stitching later, digging into that stash of indigo dyed fabric, and a good audiobook (What She Ate is currently in my ears), and voila! A shelf cleared in my closet, and a fresh look on the daybed (details on the quilt here).
The closet rearrange felt so good, truth be told. Clearing out a few things I know I'll never use, and bringing to the surface some forgotten about things I'd still like to make. After these pillows, Adelaide's baby clothes quilt was next on the shelf, and I think that might just see some air time in the coming months. Maybe even right in time for her twelfth birthday (I know, right? It can't be).
There's still so much more summer to be had, and preserving to be done, but I'm beginning to feel the twinge of autumn chores calling, and I like it.
