Have you heard the news about Make, Volume 1 from Taproot? It's a project that's been under wraps for most of this year and I'm so happy it's finally heading out into the world! For a long time we've been struggling with the back issues that are sold out. So many people ask for them, and we love the great content inside the pages of them too! Reprinting each of those issues is not only cost prohibitive, but also feels a bit like going back in time, when we're excited about where we're at now. You know? So we came up with the idea of this special edition, MAKE, collecting some of our favorite "hands" projects from the first five years of Taproot! With fresh eyes (literally! the designer never even peeked at those past issues until after this one was complete!), we re-examined some really fun projects. And of course, there's some new stuff in there too - particularly a pull out pattern by Meg McElwee for a top (that's currently cut out on my sewing table waiting for me to stitch it all together!).
This special edition is nearly double in size from a regular issue, and of course, still free of advertising. It is not included in a regular subscription, but it is available now on the website for pre-sale, with free US shipping (and $5 international shipping) for just one more day! I think it makes a great addition to a Taproot collection, or a gift for the makers, doers and dreamers in your life!
Magazine publishing is a tricky business, and then toss in the added challenge of being ad-free. And in print! Sometimes when I tell someone new that that's what we do, they think we're crazy (we might be). But I continue to be so amazed by and grateful for the support of the people who believe in this project. We DO all need a break from the screens in or lives - to read something offline and in our hands, and to be inspired to then use those hands in our days. Thank you for believing that too! And enjoy MAKE!
