Here we are, somehow already at the height of summer! I'm not sure how that happened, the speed of summer I suppose. Last week was so hot that I was only comfortable in the garden for a few hours in the morning, but they were delightful hours. Everything is coming along now, and many of our meals are coming from the garden. And the flower bouquets are coming in too!
Just as the strawberries started to fade out, the raspberries kicked in. This morning was breakfast at the "berry bar" - such a treat! Lots of greens are happening and the beans and zucchini are ready too!
As always, I'm struggling with squash bugs and I'm not sure how many pumpkins and winter squash will be produced. In the past, row covers have helped with that tremendously, but I just didn't get them on in time this year. The lack of rain made my carrot germination pretty spotty, but I'm replanting those now. There's always something (and sometimes many things) to be let go of in the garden!
And you? How does your garden grow this season?
