Woah, Rhinebeck! This weekend I attended the New York Sheep and Wool Festival for the very first time. I had always wanted to go, but this is a tricky time of year for escaping and it's often full of Taproot travel in recent years. Not that it isn't this year too, just that I decided to go for it, and was encouraged by my family to just do it. I picked the kids up from school yesterday, eager to see them, and Ani barely gave me the time of day, as she had plans to "meet a friend" at their special meeting up spot, despite having just spent the whole day together. So funny, and a good reminder to me that they're just fine without me, really.
But Rhinebeck! Oh wow. I knew it would be crazy but I don't think I got the full picture of just how big it is until I wandered around...and kept wandering....and kept finding whole new buildings I hadn't even seen yet. So much fiber goodness. So many gorgeous sheep. And the handknits everywhere - um, yeah. Incredible handmade eye candy everywhere you could look. It was a delight to catch up with so many friends who were there....and a treat to meet and make so many new ones too. It's amazing what can grow from a simple common love of fiber! Such beautiful things.
And now, to recover...this introvert is going to lock myself in a room alone, in the dark, for as long as I'm not missed.
