Three different colored cowls! No, not really. I only made one, but clearly photographed it in three different lights. Candlelight at craft knit, fireside early morning light, and full on middle of the day winter light. I think the color is most true to the last one, around my neck, which is where I'd very much love to keep this cowl. But no! This is the start, it really is, of my holiday gift knitting. I think I figured out a strategy that will keep my knits from escaping my hands and landing on my children's heads as all the previous hats have been.....and that's making something they won't wear! A lacy cowl? Not likely to be snatched up by a child. At least I don't think so.
(Also, this is great photographic evidence for me that BLOCKING MATTERS! Look at the difference between photo #1 and photo #2? I'm taking personal note for the next time I feel too lazy for a quick overnight soak and block!)
With this done, I'm sure the rest will roll off the needles in a flurry, right? Oh the friends and sisters and teachers I have grand goals and hopes and intentions of knitting a little something for! And if I fall short of one for everyone on the list, well I'll surely have fun in the trying. This really is the best time of year for that...all that good intention!
